Fougères, France
Site presentation
There was good reason for this residential facility for dependent elderly people to wish to generate energy locally for its own use while reducing its energy dependency and the carbon impact of its activities. This is why the facility wished to install a photovoltaic power plant for its own energy consumption. The problem was that the site has some old buildings and the area is therefore classified as a “bâtiment de France” (a historic monument) protected by law.
Another unobtrusive solution therefore had to be found that fitted in with this architectural and landscape environment and was approved by the Architectes des Bâtiments de France: Wattway.
How the
system works
A small photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 6 KWp, located on the ground on 50 m² of the car park traffic aisles, converting the solar energy into electricity and feeding it directly into the low-voltage main switchboard of the facility for use in the building itself.
Why did this facility
choose Wattway?
The decisive factors in this nursing home’s choice of Wattway technology were the possibility of generating renewable energy for its own needs, making additional use of the location of its car park but without altering its historic heritage, and ensuring it blends in with its surroundings.
